BEDFORD is a specialist Business and Enterprise College and the enterprising ethos really does run through the whole school. All our students complete one hour of Enterprise Studies each week in addition to any Business Studies lessons.
All our students are given plenty of opportunities to take part in Business and Enterprise-themed activities and events, including Enterprise Markets, fundraising, Young Chamber and visits.

Key Stage 3 Enterprise
The learning journey doesn’t end as you leave school; in fact it is just the beginning. This is the drive behind Bedford’s Building Learning Power Strategy which for our students begins with the Year 7 and 8 Enterprise Curriculum.
Our students are introduced to 17 ‘learning habits’ and their meanings.
They complete a range of tasks and activities to allow them to develop these habits and to develop the tools and strategies they’ll need throughout their school lives.

GCSE Business Communication Systems

3.8 Unit 8 – Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Systems in Business
This unit introduces students to the importance of business and communication systems. Students consider how ICT systems affect the way people work and how they can potentially improve communication both internally and externally. Students are encouraged to consider not only the benefits of ICT in the workplace, but also the potential risks relating to the health and safety of staff and the security of data.

3.9 Unit 9 – Using ICT in Business
This unit introduces students to a range of software applications used to support each function of a business. It helps candidates to understand how a business can use software to capture, store, retrieve and analyse data so as to meet its requirements.

3.10 Unit 10 – Investigating ICT in Business
This unit is a controlled assessment looking at the subject content in Unit 9 Using ICT in Business. The work must be each student’s individual response, produced under controlled conditions.
